PSA Essay Contest

essayThe Philosophy Students Association is pleased to issue a call for papers for its first annual essay contest. The contest is open to any Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate class in philosophy. There are no topical provisos, however, papers written for a current class in philosophy will be favoured. Evaluation will be by blinded peer-review.

The winning paper will be published in the spring issue of the journal Gnosis.

Guidelines:

  • Submissions must be under 2500 words.
  • Include references parenthetically in the flowing text.
  • Please keep footnotes to a minimum.
  • Extended quotations must be indented and single spaced.
  • Limit use of italics to technical terms (when they are introduced) and to variables.  No underlining.
  • The following must appear on your cover page:
    • full name
    • address
    • e-mail address
    • title of paper
    • word count
    • number of pages.
  • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Your paper must be received as either an .rtf or a .doc file attachment, at PSAcontest@gmail.com..

Submission deadline is December 21st, 2008.

    The adjudication of the essay contest will take place Friday, January 17, 2:00pm. The winner will be notified that evening.
